Our mission

A Nonprofit Serving Memphis Families

Seasons of Grace is a nonprofit organization based in Memphis, Tennessee. We provide high-quality, community-integrated residential care, independent life-skills training, personal-development programs, and comprehensive supportive services for aging adults and members of the intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) community.

We are mission-funded, not profit-driven. Every program is paid for by donations, grants, partnerships, and community support, so placement is based on a family's income rather than their ability to pay. Assessments and first consultations are always free, and no one is turned away for asking a question.

Giving is received through our verified LIVEGIVEmidsouth page, and every dollar goes directly into care, housing support, life-skills training, and family services.

  • Dignified Care

Support shaped around the person — their routines, relationships, faith, and choices.

  • Independent Living Skills

Practical coaching that builds confidence and everyday capability at each person's pace.

  • Stronger Communities

Partnerships and advocacy that knit neighbors, families, and organizations into one circle of care.

Our purpose

Closing Gaps. Restoring Community.

Many lower-income families in Memphis neighborhoods, including South Memphis and Orange Mound, face overwhelming barriers when aging caregivers and loved ones with IDD need safe, specialized, affordable support. Seasons of Grace exists to help build a stronger network of care, protection, dignity, and opportunity.

The Story of One Patient · From Empty Land to Tall Tree

One man's season of grace — from a hospital bed to standing tall.

These pictures illuminate our walk in one man's journey through his seasons of grace. Him being a member of our community afforded us a first-hand opportunity to witness what truly happens when care, faith, and family walk together.

  1. A man resting in a hospital bed with oxygen and monitors beside him

    Season One

    Bare ground: the hardest day

Intensive care, tragedy, and uncertainty. Every journey forged out of trauma starts with the need for care & guidance.

  2. A man in a wheelchair and hospital gown smiling while holding a laughing baby

    Season Two

    A seed of hope

Ready for a wardrobe change and a fresh set of wheels, he holds his child close. Family and love become the reason to keep going.

  3. A man in graduation robes and a gold cord walking across a stage with a cane

    Season Three

    Taking root

With his cane in one hand and the community in the other, his journey was honored as he crossed the stage. Recovery is rarely a straight line — but it is possible with a village.

  4. A man standing confidently in a navy blazer, red vest, and tie

    Season Four

    Standing on his own

No cane, no chair. Upright and dressed with pride — strength returning one step at a time.

  5. A man in a dark suit and red vest standing outdoors at a family gathering holding a rose

    Season Five

    Fully grown, among his people

Rose in hand at a family gathering, surrounded by the community that carried him. This is what we mean by enriching lives and honoring journeys.

The Story of One Queen · From Seed to Full Bloom

Her season of grace — from surrender to a reaffirmation of who she is.

She was cared for in her own home until her condition would no longer let her live there on her own terms. Through every hard day that followed, our founder and our board president never left her side.

  1. An older woman in a hospital gown lying in a hospital bed with braided gray hair and a wristband, while our founder leans in beside her smiling

    Season One

    The fall

For years her home was her queendom, and she ruled it on her own terms. Only an accidental fall moved her, against her will, into a hospital bed. Our founder was there, right beside her.

  2. The same woman sitting beside a bed in a plain gray care-facility room, looking at the camera with a stern, skeptical expression

    Season Two

A new room, and much resistance

A care facility was not the home she chose. The move felt like a surrender decree, and she let everyone know it. We stayed anyway.

  3. The woman resting in bed, smiling and holding the arm of a man in a gray hoodie and cap standing beside her, with a TV on the wall

    Season Three

    A hand reaching back

Day after day, she was never left alone. Here she reaches for the arm of our board president. Trust began to take root.

  4. The woman in a wheelchair wearing an orange shirt and gray pants, laughing with her mouth wide open while a caregiver in gray scrubs stands behind her

    Season Four

    Laughter returns

Out of bed, in a bright orange shirt, laughing out loud. The pain and anguish began to give way to joy.

  5. The woman covering her face with both hands as she laughs, pressed cheek to cheek with our founder, who is smiling broadly in glasses and an orange shirt

    Season Five

    Still a queen

Hiding her face in a fit of giggles, cheek to cheek with our founder. She is who she always was. Her season of grace reminded her of that.

Meet Our Founder, La Tonya Anderson

La Tonya Anderson is a lifelong caregiver, advocate, and servant leader whose life reflects resilience, compassion, and faith. After experiencing paralysis from Cauda Equina Syndrome in 2022, she endured a profound personal recovery supported by her children, care team, faith, and determination. In February 2026, she took her first unaided step in nearly four years.

Her story is a testimony to community care, perseverance, and the grace that carries people through life's most difficult seasons.

“What God allowed to occur in my life in 2022 was not for me, but for others around me to see, witness, and understand how good God is—and how His grace and mercy continue to be sufficient.”
